Canada eases the rules for temporary foreign workers’ families
Canada will allow every family member of a temporary foreign worker to hold a job as of next January.
Until now, only the family members of « skilled workers » could obtain a work permit.
According to the Government of Canada, the families of 200 000 foreign workers could benefit from this easing.
The announcement was made in Edmonton, on Friday, 02 December 2022 by the federal Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser, and the Minister of Tourism, Randy Boissonnault.
The new measure will be rolled out from January 2023, and the spouses and working-age children of temporary foreign workers will be able to obtain a work permit in Canada.
