Temporary residenceInternational Experience Canada (IEC)
An open work permit, or one tied to an employer, for 18–35 year-olds from countries with a mobility agreement with Canada. Up to two years on site.
Canada has signed bilateral youth mobility agreements with more than thirty countries. The International Experience Canada program opens to their nationals aged 18 to 35 a temporary work permit allowing them to travel and work in the country for up to two years.
The three streams
Working Holiday - for those who do not yet have a job offer, want to work for several employers, move from city to city, and fund their travels. The permit issued is an open work permit.
Young Professionals - for those who already hold a job offer that furthers their professional development, with a single employer and at a given location. The position must fall under TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3, and the work must be paid.
International Co-op Internship - for students whose internship is required by their educational institution.
