Express Entry is not an immigration program: it is the electronic gateway through which Canada selects, round after round, the highest-ranked candidates from three economic programs.
You submit a profile, a score is assigned to you, and IRCC invites everyone above the cut-off. Without an invitation, no permanent residence application is admissible through this route.
The three eligible categories
Federal Skilled Worker - one year of continuous experience, that is 1,560 hours, in a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation. CLB 7 minimum and 67 points on the grid.
Federal Skilled Trades - two years of full-time experience in a designated skilled trade over the past five years.
Canadian Experience Class - one year of experience gained in Canada over the past three years.
