This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information, in particular when you use our website, our online forms, our consulting services, our electronic communications or when you contact us through WhatsApp.<\/p>\n

Depending on the nature of your interaction with WVIS and the services requested, we may collect, among other things:<\/p>\n

    As part of an immigration mandate, some information may be sensitive in nature. We seek to limit collection to the information reasonably necessary for the stated purposes.<\/p>\n

    2. Purposes of collection and use<\/h2>\n

    • carry out a preliminary assessment of an immigration situation;<\/li>\n
    • provide our professional services;<\/li>\n

      3. Communications by WhatsApp<\/h2>\n

      WVIS uses WhatsApp Business and may use WhatsApp Business Platform<\/strong>, a service provided by Meta, in order to manage certain business communications.<\/p>\n

      When you communicate with WVIS by WhatsApp, certain information necessary for that communication to work may be processed, in particular:<\/p>\n

      • your telephone number;<\/li>\n
      • your name or certain profile information available through WhatsApp;<\/li>\n
      • the content of the messages you send to WVIS;<\/li>\n
      • the dates, times, identifiers and other metadata associated with the messages;<\/li>\n
      • the documents, images or other files you choose to send.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        This information may be received by WVIS\u2019s authorized systems so that business communications can be received, managed, filed and followed up on.<\/p>\n

        Use of WhatsApp is also subject to the applicable policies and terms of WhatsApp and Meta. WVIS does not control the processing carried out independently by those providers as part of their own services.<\/p>\n

        Where particularly sensitive information has to be sent, WVIS may recommend or require the use of another channel where that is more appropriate.<\/p>\n

        4. Technologies and service providers<\/h2>\n

        WVIS uses technology providers to operate its services and its digital infrastructure. Depending on the service concerned, information may be processed by providers acting on our behalf or supplying the necessary infrastructure.<\/p>\n

        Those providers may include hosting, messaging, communications, IT security, online form, storage and file management services.<\/p>\n

        Where the WhatsApp Business Platform is used, Meta Platforms and the relevant entities of its group<\/strong> supply the infrastructure needed to carry and technically process WhatsApp communications.<\/p>\n

        We seek to limit our providers\u2019 access to the information necessary to perform the services concerned and to use providers offering appropriate security and confidentiality safeguards.<\/p>\n

        5. Disclosure of information<\/h2>\n

        WVIS does not sell the personal information of its clients or users.<\/p>\n

        Information may, however, be disclosed where that is necessary:<\/p>\n

          6. Transfer and processing outside Quebec or outside Canada<\/h2>\n

          Some technology providers used by WVIS may process or store information on infrastructure located outside Quebec or Canada.<\/p>\n

          Where applicable legislation requires it, WVIS takes the necessary steps before disclosing or entrusting personal information outside Quebec and puts in place appropriate contractual, organizational or technical measures.<\/p>\n

          Information processed in another jurisdiction may be subject to the laws applicable in that jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

          7. Retention<\/h2>\n

          WVIS retains personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet its professional, contractual, regulatory and legal obligations.<\/p>\n

          Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the information and the file concerned.<\/p>\n

          At the end of the applicable period, the information is destroyed, deleted or anonymized in accordance with applicable requirements and WVIS\u2019s procedures.<\/p>\n

          WVIS may use technology tools and automation features to support certain internal operations.<\/p>\n

          Where artificial intelligence tools are used in a context involving personal information, their use must be compatible with applicable professional, contractual and legal obligations and with WVIS\u2019s governance and security measures.<\/p>\n

          WVIS does not regard the sending of information to the firm as constituting, on its own, general authorization to pass that information to a third-party artificial intelligence service.<\/p>\n
